30 hours approx, including embroidery and cutting.
He started off as a planned 18” toy, and grew and grew. I worked entirely without a pattern apart from drawing up something to make sure his legs were identical.
If I were ever to repeat the process, I learned a lot from doing this and could do him faster and better.
Machine embroidered: Eyes, wings
Hand sewn: Eyebrows, neck joint, inner thighs
Machine sewn: Everything else, he’s a tough ol’ boy!
Thanks go to my Mum who actually added his eyebrows whilst I was out hunting for fabric for another project.
- Arms: Special ribbed Minky fabric, and plastic large teddy bear joints so he can swing those arms up and down.
- Gator leg: individually made claws and foam supported ankle. I tried just making a single shape with white minky for both claws but it looked a bit blobby.
- Tail: Articulated with a tough, heavy, nylon ball-joint armature.
